Curses - Foiled Again!

I came back from the Victoria Day long weekend ready to go back to work, only to find disappointing news on my answering machine. It seems the company didn't have money in their budget for the position they'd offered me, so they had to cancel it. That's it. No other explanation. Sorry, we're idiots who can't count, bad luck for you.

My exile from employment continues. I'm trying not to be down in the dumps about it, as that won't help me. I'd rather take the attitude that when God closes a door he opens a window. However, God closed the employment door two and a half months ago. I can only hope He knows what He's doing.

Imagine if He didn't... that might make an interesting story! Probably a comedy, with a metaphysical twist - exactly the sort of thing I'm best at! See, something good came from my situation already.

'Till next time, everyone!

Phooey. But you're right. Events are what they are. How we choose to react to them can either work to our advantage or not. A positive attitude really can work wonders.

Tim, Here's a thought. Did you get the call cancelling the appointment after the 'in your FACE ex-manager!' comment or after?

Blogs are awfully public documents and to (a) remind your prospective employers that they once believed you to be a daydreamer who can't meet his targets, and (b) give one of their managers the finger (even if he or she no longer works there he or she may still have friends who do) strikes me as a tiny bit rash.

Possibly, next time you get a job offer, it might be prudent to hold off on the posting until the ink is dry on the contract.

Just thinking out loud...

Possibly, Graywave, but I doubt it. I seriously doubt it. However, if I'm wrong, my ex-manulife manager is more than welcome to correct me.

Diane, Wendy, thanks for the kind words. Most appreciated.

Tim I can't believe it! How could they do that to you? They actually CAN? It's awful! :-( I hope you'll find something else in a better and more serious company!

I had so much hassle with employment agencies before landing what has turned in to my perfect job. They really can be such a-holes. Fortunately for you, your temping seems to be simply a means to an end, and lack of work is giving you more time to focus on what you really want to do.
